How was it solved?
After a few years of trying to lay low with his crime partner, John Chase, he couldn’t help it but to still get himself involved in crime. After living in California for a little bit he returned to Chicago to meet up with chase. They had a job in which they killed a man in Minneapolis. There, a man noticed his California license plate. The police used this to try and track him down. They decided to rent a lodge in northern Wisconsin. The police tracked them down and when they eventually came to his doorstep he shot one of the officers. He went back to Chicago to meet up with Chase where again they decided to lay low and rent a place in Lake Geneva Wisconsin. He was involved in a robbery and murder soon after this in south bend Indiana. They returned to Chicago where they were met by police who they shot on the spot. In July of 1934 he became public enemy number 1 with a $5,000 reward on his arrest. The gang moved to California for a few weeks to plan their next bank robbery in Chicago. The police received word that he was back in town and the police and Lester’s gang met In the street for a shootout. Lester was able to escape but only for a brief period of time because the police traced him down in their car and shot him, killing him and resolving the case once and for all.
